Hunt for man who punched worker during robbery

POLICE are looking for a suspected robber after he escaped staff members who tried to apprehend him at business premises in a Kent town.

Staff at the shop on Tannery Lane, Ashford, became suspicious of a man they thought was shoplifting. He became agitated and tried to leave the shop, barging past a member of staff and punching him.

The member of staff fell down a short flight of stairs but chased the man towards Pizza Hut and Blockbuster. He lost sight of him on the high street.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 2ins tall, of light build with short, dark-brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue checked shirt and a blue or grey round-necked shirt.
