Video: Vernon Miller
proposes live on Louis Hurst's kmfm show

Wedding bells are chiming for a Kent couple who got engaged live
on kmfm last night.

47-year-old Vernon Miller from Tonbridge, a regular listener to
kmfm's Evening Republic with Louis Hurst, met his 48-year-old
fiancée Chrissie Philpott at the first ever Evening Republic night
at Bar Vasa in Sandgate back in December 2008.

The couple were not due to see each other last night, but Vernon
surprised Chrissie at her Chatham door and popped the question
during a poem he wrote.

For Vernon it was the perfect way to propose. He said: "Just
before Christmas I decided I wanted to propose to Chrissie. I felt
as we met through the radio it would be nice to propose through the
radio. I wanted to show my friends and family my commitment to
Chrissie."

Presenter Louis Hurst said: "I am chuffed to bits to have had my
first evening republic wedding!

"Vernon and Chrissie are regular listeners to the show and I
have got to know them both over last year or so and so happy they
found love through our show!"

The couple are now planning a medieval themed wedding in
Rochester, with Vernon's heart set on wearing a chain mail
suit of armour.
