Man charged after string of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Ashford

A suspected burglar has been charged in connection with a string of offences in Ashford.

Shane Sharland, 25, was charged yesterday with four counts of burglary and four counts of attempted burglary.

The burglaries took place during this month in properties in Haymakers Lane, Bond Road, Churchfield Way and Woodlands Road.

It is alleged the suspected burglar swiped items including jewellery, cash, phones and a knife set.

Mr Sharland, of Newtown Green, Ashford, appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on September 30.
