DETECTIVES say a 35-year-old woman found dead in her bathroom died of natural causes.

It is understood a post mortem, held on Wednesday, revealed how the woman, from Ashford, died. The investigation has now been handed over to the coroner.

The woman's body was discovered on the floor of her first-floor maisonette at Leaveland Close, Stanhope, South Ashford. She was found found by her partner soon after 4pm on Tuesday.

The detective leading the inquiry, Det Insp Paul Fotheringham, said: "What we had here was an unexplained death."

The woman lived at the flat with her six-year-old son who is now being cared for by relatives.

One of the first people on the scene was 20-year-old next-door neighbour Sam Dacosta. She said: "I was very scared and I cried. She was my friend as well as my neighbour."
