Godinton Playschool in Ashford reopens after being closed by Ofsted

A nursery shut by Ofsted officials amid fears children "may be at risk of harm" has reopened.

Godinton Playschool in Ashford was closed on Friday as inspectors made the decision to suspend the site for six weeks to allow time for an investigation.

But a note posted outside the premises said the suspension could be lifted before this period was up if Ofsted was satisfied children were no longer at risk.

This has proved to be the case as the nursery reopened yesterday – just days after its initial closure.

One parent who has a child at the playschool said how pleased they are for the staff there.

“I am relieved for myself, my child and other parents/children who have missed the short time they have been closed,” they said.

“They have gone above and beyond to help my child with specific needs. I have nothing but positive praise for both the playschool setting and all the staff.

“I hope this unfortunate event does not discourage parents to enrol their children in the future. I know I am speaking on behalf of many parents whose children also attend.”

KentOnline contacted Ofsted for comment.
