Pedal cyclist dies after collision

A CYCLIST has died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car.

Kent Police are investigating the collision which happened early on Saturday on the A28 Ashford Road at Chilham, near Canterbury.

A Vauxhall Nova was travelling on towards Ashford when it was in collision with a bicycle travelling on the same direction.

The cycle rider, from Ashford, was taken to the William Harvey hospital at Ashford where he later died of his injuries. He has not yet been named.

The driver and passengers in the Vauxhall Nova were not injured. The road was closed while members of Kent Police's Serious Crash Investigation Unit (SCIU) attended.
