Pensioner, 80, dies after losing control of car

A driver aged 80 died after he careered up an embankment and smashed into three parked cars.

The man's Black Citroen C4 also hit street furniture as it left the carriageway in Chart Road, Ashford, on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at William Harvey Hospital. No one else was injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident that left two Fiat Doblos and a Fiat Qubo parked in a car dealership damaged.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The road was closed until 6.30pm while investigators from Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended."
