Man taken to hospital after serious crash on the A28 near Bethersden

A man has suffered serious leg injuries after a crash on the A28 near Bethersden this morning.

He was travelling towards Ashford in a Suzuki Swift when he lost control of the car and collided with a tree on the opposite side of the road.

The incident happened at 10.50am between the junctions with Forge Hill and Kiln Lane, and traffic had been blocked in both directions.

A police spokesman said the man has been taken to hospital in London via air ambulance. The road has now reopened in both directions.
