Fire crews swarmed into Tenterden High Street on Thursday night as a blaze threatened to engulf the Brasserie Gerard restaurant.

Emergency services were called at 5.06pm, with crews from Tenterden, Cranbrook and Headcorn arriving first, followed by Ashford and Folkestone.

The restaurant's kitchen area was badly damaged, with smoke damage affecting the venue and shops next door.

No-one was hurt.

The cause is being investigated but is not thought to be suspicious.

Crews left at 11.55pm.
