Robber strikes at Ashford bookmakers

A robber threatened staff at a bookmakers with a kitchen knife before getting away with cash.

The raider struck at the Court Wurtin premises in Beaver Lane, Ashford, at about 7.15pm on Tuesday.

Police says the man walked into the premises, showed staff the knife and then jumped over the counter, demanding the till be opened.

After taking the money the raider then ran from the shop to a nearby car park, where he was then seen driving a black car towards Brookfield Road.

Det Sgt James Ross said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who has information about this incident, and particularly if someone saw the black car being driven towards Brookfield Road."

Police are now looking for a man described as white, possibly of Eastern European appearance.

He is said to be 5ft 8in to 6ft tall, of a medium building and aged about 25 and with short, cropped brown hair. He wore a polo short with horizontal stripes.
