Peacock appears at Handcocks Farm Nursery, Shadoxhurst, days after emu arrives at farm in nearby Criol Lane

Shadoxhurst is clearly the place to be seen if you're a large bird.

Earlier this week we reported that an emu had arrived at a farm in the village, near Ashford, and now a peacock has appeared at a nursery around the corner.

This morning, Bill Hollands, owner of Handcocks Farm Nursery in Bethersden Road, arrived to find the beautiful bird strutting around inside a polytunnel.

Mr Hollands said: "We've no idea where he's come from but he seems quite happy. Someone brought some bird food over and fed him."

Neighbour Joanne Knaggs, who spotted the emu last week, added: "It's a beautiful male with all its plumage.

"Somebody said to me, I wonder what's going to turn up next."
