Residents living in a rural location have been urged to keep windows and doors shut and drive carefully following a haystack fire.

Crews were called to Brook Street in Woodchurch, near Ashford, just before 8.30pm yesterday evening.

One fire engine was sent to the scene and advice to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from the haystack was issued to those who live nearby and still stands this morning.

Drivers in the area are also urged to take care on the roads due to poor visibility.

A spokesperson for the service said: “Please share this information with loved ones and neighbours in the impacted area, who may not have access to the internet.”
