Bliby reach last 16 of county cup

On a day when the weather wiped out all but two of the scheduled matches in the Ashford Sunday League, Bliby moved into the full county draw of the Kent Sunday Premier Cup with a 7-1 win over Buffalo from the Maidstone Sunday League.

Bliby had to withstand early Buffalo pressure but they always looked dangerous on the break and went ahead when Paul Burt outpaced the Buffalo defence to score.

Burt then struck again just before the break and Pat Kingwell made it 3-0 on the hour.

Further goals then followed from Richard Boorman, substitute Joe Valler (penalty), Kingwell and Tommy Dawes before Buffalo netted a last-minute consolation.

The only game to take place on the domestic front saw Lydd pick up three points in Division 1 with a 6-1 win over Bocca.

Lydd were 4-1 up at half-time with goals from Ricky Bingham (2), Dan Humphreys and Craig Avery, with Terry Kelly pulling one back for Bocca. Chris Ray and Martin Betton then completed the scoring in the second half.
