Post women assaulted in Barham by robber snatching mail

Police hunting a man who assaulted a postwoman in Barham before snatching a handful of letters have issued an e-fit image of him.

They say the offender had previously knocked on the door of a house in Heathfield Way saying he was looking for a friend but must have the wrong address.

But as he left the property, he approached a postwoman and asked for the mail belonging to that home.

It is alleged he then grabbed the letters from the postwoman, pushing her in the process, before running away with some of the post.

A witness has reported seeing him leave the area in a silver vehicle which was being driven by another unknown man.

The incident is said to have happened at around 12.15pm on Monday, January 11.

The suspect is described as black and of slim build with short hair and a clean shaven face.

At the time he is said to have been wearing dark blue/ black jeans and a dark grey hoodie with a pattern.
