Bogus caller steals hundreds of pounds from elderly victim

A MAN posing as a meter reader stole £800 cash from an 83-year-old woman after tricking his way into her home in a Kent city.

The victim let the man into her home in Wincheap, Canterbury, on Wednesday.

He distracted her by asking her to turn on various appliances, while he stole the money.

Police are now looking for the offender, who is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build with black hair. He was wearing dark trousers and spoke with an Irish accent.
