Canterbury Rugby Club chosen to host prestigious county match next season

Canterbury will host a top County Championship game next season and also stage the Shepherd Neame Cup finals day.

Kent, who won promotion to the County Championship’s Division 1 last season, meet Cornwall at Merton Lane on Saturday, May 21.

The finals day, which sees the culmination of the Kent Cup, Plate, Vase and Salver competitions, will be on Sunday, May 1.

The news from the Kent RFU is an early boost for the club as they prepare for a tough new league season in National Division 2 South which involves a programme of 30 matches, kicking-off with a home game against Clifton on September 4.

The senior squad are in their second week of pre-season training, with sessions every Tuesday and Thursday, and head coach Danny Vaughan is keen to recruit new players at all levels.
