Car stolen from PureGym in Marshwood Close, Canterbury, leads to police chase and arrest in Querns Road.

A man and a teenage boy have been arrested following a car chase after a 4x4 was stolen from a gym car park in Canterbury.

It followed the theft of keys to a Nissan Pathfinder which were reported stolen from a changing room locker at PureGym in Marshwood Close on Saturday.

The car was then seen early the following morning by a police patrol in St Martin’s Hill in Canterbury.

The driver failed to stop for officers and after a short pursuit was in collision with a garden fence in Querns Road.

The occupants fled the vehicle but a 26-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested nearby.

The passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Ashford, was arrested after being found by a police dog hiding in undergrowth in a nearby field.

Both have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and have been released pending further inquiries.

Police are also investigating the theft of keys to a Ford Transit panel van from a locker at the same gym on Friday.

It was subsequently found fire damaged in Fleets Lane, Tyler Hill.
