The University of Kent has risen to 34th place in the latest national league table.

It has moved up four places to 34 out of 116 UK universities in the 2012 Complete University Guide.

The University has also achieved a top 10 position in three subject areas: Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation & Tourism; Art & Design; and Social Work.

Overall, 82 percent of the University’s 33 subjects have appeared in the top 30.

Professor Dame Julia M Goodfellow, Vice-Chancellor of the University, welcomed the news.

She said: "The 2012 Guide has firmly positioned Kent among the leading research universities in the UK.

"Our position is also a reflection of our ability to attract high calibre students and to provide them with a student experience that prepares them for future careers."

The Complete University Guide offers comparisons between universities on a wide range of criteria including strength of research, academic quality, student satisfaction, campus facilities and graduate prospects.
