A female monkey escaped from her enclosure at Howletts Wild Animal Park late this morning.
Keepers and specialist vets were called in to catch the primate, which was spotted sitting on top of its usual home.
The Javan langur, called Malang, managed to get out of her enclosure close to the park's administrative office and pavilion restaurant.
The enclosure area was cordoned off for just over an hour.
Animal director Adrian Harland said: "At no time were the public in any danger from Malang.
"Javan langurs are a leaf-eating primate and while she did find her way out of her enclosure, she decided to sit on the roof in the rain, rather than leave the area.
"We cordoned off the enclosure area, to ensure that Malang was not under any stress, and she was returned to her enclosure after just over an hour.
"We are pleased to report that Malang is safe and sound."
