Canterbury Ladies let slip an early lead as they were beaten 4-3 by Bowdon Hightown in the semi-finals of the National Indoor Championships at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham, on Sunday.

Canterbury, the league winners, took a fourth minute lead through Mel Clewlow but within seconds Tina Cullen had equalised and there was no further score before half time.

Nicky O'Donnell (23 minutes) then put Hightown in front, before Kirsty MacKay fired home to pull Canterbury level.

Lisa Hapke (36) then put the Kent side back in front, but the lead was shortlived, as Cullen restored parity with an impressive individual goal.

Cullen then turned provider, setting up O’ Donnell (39) for her second, who made no mistake as she crashed the ball into an empty net to send Bowdon Hightown through to the final.

Hightown went on to win the trophy, with a 4-2 final victory over Slough, who had overcome Olton and West Warwicks 6-3 in their semi-final.
