SUPPORT for the campaign to revive Canterbury City Football Club continues to flood in from far and wide.

Secretary Keith Vaughan revealed that the club have received scores of emails from well-wishers, including one from former player Bill Denton, who now lives in Australia.

Mr Denton, a left-winger, played 51 times for City, scoring six goals, after signing for £500 from Folkestone, before the 1962/63 season.

He wrote in his email: "It’s fantastic to hear of your efforts to get senior football back to the city. I wish you every success and would become your No1 supporter in Australia."

City plan to field three adult sides for season 2007/08. They also hope to field three junior sides in the Valley Express Kent Youth League.
