Charlton have swooped to sign versatile left-sided player Johnnie Jackson, who was on loan at the Valley last season.
The 27-year-old former Tottenham youngster joins on a free transfer from Notts County having spent a month on loan with the club last season before the spell was cut short due to injury.
His first professional goal came for Spurs against Athletic in 2004
Jackson - who has also played for Colchester under Phil Parkinson - can play anywhere along the left flank or in midfield and is expected to feature in the Addicks first pre-season friendly at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Parkinson said: "I'm delighted to complete the signing of Johnnie. Our supporters will have seen him briefly last season when he played well for us on loan, and his versatility - his ability to play left-back, left midfield or centre midfield - will be very important to us going forward."
Jackson was released by the Magpies after just a season at Meadow Lane following his release by Colchester United.
