Delays on M25 in Kent after lorries crash on approach to Dartford Tunnel

Commuters have been facing long delays on the M25 in Kent today after an accident at the Dartford Crossing.

Three lorries were involved in the smash on the anti-clockwise approach to the Dartford Tunnel.

It happened at about 1pm and led to the closure of one of the tunnels.

The Highways Agency said all restrictions were lifted around an hour later.

However, it continued to cause delays for motorists - with congestion back to the Darenth Interchange and journeys still taking around 30 minutes by the evening rush-hour.

Meanwhile, Thames Road in Dartford was shut in both directions at about 5pm after a lorry overturned between Burnham Road and Crayford Way.
