Police investigate robbery in Dartford after woman's handbag snatched from seat

A woman's handbag was grabbed from the passenger seat of her car in an attempted robbery.

The victim, driving a grey Citroen in Dartford town centre, stopped in Priory Place when the alleged incident is said to have taken place.

Police are investigating after a man reportedly approached the woman's car from a white Kia which had stopped in front.

It was reported the man opened the passenger door before snatching the bag in the incident on December 27 at about 11.30am.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, confronted the man and regained possession of the bag and suffered an injury to her finger during the altercation.

The suspect, described as black and wearing a red jumper and black trousers at the time of the incident, has since attended a police station for a voluntary interview.

The 48-year-old from Northfleet has not been arrested and no charges have been made.

Officers are now asking for the public's help for further information following the incident.
