Two fire engines were in attendance as crews decided to empty the lorry’s load onto the road to tackle the fire.

Two lanes on the carriageway were shut just before 1pm this afternoon while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

There were delays of up to 45 minutes and around four miles of congestion on the approach.

National Highways said the closures were likely to be in place for some time but by 3.30pm all lanes had reopened.
