Dartford Golf Club member Michael Saunders has won the Kent Amateur Championship.

Kent’s best 72 amateur golfers competed for the prestigious title at Langley Park Golf Club over the weekend.

They contested 36 holes of strokeplay on the first day, with the second and third days being matchplay knockout for the top 16.

Saunders had a tough route to the final having to beat England international Liam Harper, from Lydd, as well as the experienced Danny Holmes (Langley Park) along the way.

Large crowds followed the final that produced outstanding golf from both players with Saunders winning on the 18th hole, beating Kevin O’Connell, from Shooters Hill Golf Club, by two.

Darren Crabb, also from Dartford, won the Hetherington Salver competition for those finishing 17th to 32nd.
