Campaigners who want to see tolls at the Dartford Crossing scrapped are holding an action day today to vent their frustration.

MP for Gravesham, Adam Holloway, and prospective Tory parliamentary candidate for Dartford, Gareth Johnson, want to see the tolls removed for a week to see what impact it would have on congestion and ultimately want them gone for good.

They were joined by political figures from Essex, Bexley and Bromley who all want to see the back of the tolls. Failing that, they want the Government's discount scheme for local motorists extended beyond Dartford and Thurrock.

Also present were representatives from the Freight Transport Association, who say the tolls cost UK business more than £20million each year.
