Charlton were defeated by rivals Millwall in League 1 on Wednesday night.

The Addicks conceded two goals in as many minutes just before half-time and although Nicky Ajose gave them hope early in the second half, they were soundly beaten in the end.

The results leaves Karl Robinson’s side 14th in the table and still searching for their first win under their new boss.

Charlton had looked relatively comfortable for long spells in the first half.

The visitors had an early let-off when Lee Gregory failed to pick out Aiden O’Brien while the latter was denied by Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips.

Millwall took the lead on 40 minutes when a cross by Shaun Cummings was headed in by O’Brien.

Their advantage was doubled two minutes later when Steve Morison fired beyond Philips as the Addicks defence were badly exposed.

Charlton got themselves back into the game four minutes after half-time when Ajose slotted home past keeper Jordan Archer after Ademola Lookman set him up.

But any hopes of a Charlton comeback were dashed on the hour mark when Morison scored his second of the night.

Fred Onyedinma was denied Millwall’s fourth goal by Phillips and the Addicks failed to produce a telling response in the closing stages.
