'Dangerous' delay over fallen ivy in Church Path

A Church Path resident who was told to “hang on” has now waited two weeks for a collapsed ivy in her road to be removed.

Susan Carlyle notified Kent County Council on Wednesday, October 7, about the collapsed plant that borders a wall along the upper part of Church Path, but still no action has been taken.

She said: “For some time the wall has been in a hazardous condition with overgrown ivy and as one corner has now come down it reveals the brickwork is also crumbling.

“I have explained that school children, parents and pedestrians are passing regularly as it is the cut-through to schools and services.

“I felt responsible to report the dangerous condition of the overhanging greenery.

“I was told that as we are not expecting any stormy weather, just to hang on.”

Mrs Carlyle thinks the situation is unacceptable and is concerned that someone will be hurt should the wall give way.

She added: “The path is dangerous. It’s a public safety issue that has now been ignored for two weeks.”

She received an email on Monday from Cllr Trevor Bond, who said he had visited the site and was forwarding her request to KCC.

KCC is yet comment.
