A family from Deal has visited 10 Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister and his wife Sarah at a Local Heroes reception.

Angela Rees and her children Dominic and Cheska were joined by Dover and Deal MP Gwyn Prosser.

The mother and her two childrne were invited to the special occasion organised to thank the families of Britain's servicemen and women for the essential support they provide.

Mr Prosser said:"Angela's husband has served in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Everyone applauds the work done by our brave troops overseas but, by their support at home, the families of servicemen service men and women also deserve the nation's gratitude and I believe they are all local heroes.

"Although the General Election is just around the corner I am delighted that Gordon Brown found time to honour my constituents and express his gratitude for the wonderful work our armed services are doing."
