Girl hit by car in The Strand, Walmer

A four-year-old girl who suffered what were described as "serious head injuries" after she was hit by a car has been discharged from hospital.

The youngster was struck by the vehicle in The Strand, Walmer, at about 3pm yesterday.

An air ambulance was called to the scene - opposite the Downs Sailing Club - and flew the girl to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital.

Two paramedic cars, an ambulance and at least two police cars were also involved in the emergency response.

The girl was today seen by a consultant who decided her injuries were superficial and she was allowed home.
