Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster has promised more signings at Crabble following the capture of Football League players Steven Thompson and Mitchell Walker.

Forster (pictured) has begun shaping his squad for another tilt at promotion from Blue Square Bet South with the signings of midfielder Thompson from SPL side St Mirren and keeper Walker from Brighton.

Whites have also agreed new contracts with Billy Bricknell, Barry Cogan, Shane Huke, Steven Watt, Tom Axford and Lee Hook.

However, midfielder Glen Southam has opted to join Eastleigh while Michael Corcoran remains in talks over his new deal.

Forster said: "It has been a busy week. I am pleased we have re-signed the six players but I am sad to see Southam go. He is a good character to have around, a real energiser.

"It does free up another place but I am working to a budget. I am not throwing money around. I am looking hard to bring boys in.

Forster said the signings of Thompson, 34, and Walker, 20, would "bring a big level of performance to us."

"I know Thommo from Brighton and he is a leader and with respect to the other players, we needed that," he said.

"Mitchell is a big, commanding keeper. He has good experience in the league and turned down the opportunity to be a No.2 at a League 1 club to sign."
