This included one car in Beach Street, six vehicles at The Marina and a number of cars in Sainsbury's car park in West Street.

Others have reported damage to vehicles in Freemen's Way, St Patrick's Road, Northwall Road and Dover Road in Walmer.

Mike Eddy, Deal Town and Kent County Councillor, said: "I have already contacted the cabinet member in charge of Highways to see if he will re-instate night-time street lights in North Deal as a deterrent to this kind of nastiness.

"I would also hope that our MP would press his fellow Conservative, the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner, to strengthen the police presence in Deal. It is ludicrous that police numbers have been cut so drastically since 2010 and that officers need to take suspects to Folkestone to deal with the paperwork."

Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to contact Kent Police on 101, quoting reference number 05-176.
