Woman attacked and car stolen in Deal robbery

A woman was attacked before her car was stolen during a robbery close to the centre of a Kent town.

Police were called to the scene in Alfred Square, Deal, shortly before 6pm yesterday.

And they have now confirmed a man has been arrested today in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "The woman was assaulted during the incident and sustained bruising, but did not require medical treatment.

"Officers attended and following enquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested the next day on suspicion of robbery.

"The man, who is from Deal, currently remains in custody while the investigation continues.

"Officers would like to thank all those who have already come forward with information."
