Witnesses are today being sought after a head-on crash on the A2 near Dover left a driver fighting for his life.
The victim, thought to be in his 50s, suffered life-threatening injuries in the smash with a lorry at Jubilee Way at Guston.
He was driving a convertible Vauxhall Astra that was in a collision with a white lorry at about 7pm on Sunday.
Now witnesses are being sought to the crash, which closed the road between the A258 and the A256 in both directions until 1.10am.
The car driver was flown to London's St George's Hospital and remains in a critical condition, while the trucker is in hospital with serious injuries.
Sgt Christopher Wade, from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit said: "A blue Vauxhall Astra convertible and a white-coloured Man articulated lorry appear to have been involved in a head-on collision on the Dover-bound carriageway.
"The driver of the Astra was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition.
"The lorry driver was taken to a local hospital, where his condition is also described as serious but stable.
"We are extremely keen to speak with any person who witnessed the collision who has not yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who saw either of the vehicles involved prior to the collision."
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene and firefighters removed the car door with hydraulic equipment.
The roof of the vehicle is detachable, so it was removed without force.
An air ambulance report said the car driver suffered injuries to his thorax, lower arm and leg.
