A256 in Whitfield, Dover closed after serious crash between car and lorry

A driver has suffered life threatening injuries after a crash between a car and a stationary lorry.

The man was flown to Kings Hospital, in London, after the serious incident on the A256 Whitfield, in Dover.

Emergency crews, including police, firefighters and paramedics, rushed to the scene around 9am.

A police spokesman said earlier that the driver had also had medical treatment at the scene.

Fire crews were called and it is understood the car was on fire following the crash.

The busy road has been closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for a few more hours. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Kent Highways are on the scene and are looking at putting a more permanent road closure in place.
