An elderly woman was attacked, tied up and pushed out of her wheelchair.

Police investigating the robbery have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace in connection with the attack.

The 85-year-old woman was at her home in Dover when a man knocked on her door to ask for a phone number of someone she knew.

As she was finding him some paper to write on he entered her home and wheeled her into her lounge where he put a cushion cover over her head and tied her hands behind her back and then pushed her over so she could not get up.

He left a short time later and when the woman was helped back up she noticed a number of items had been stolen.

These included a silver Sony flat screen TV, a thick gold chain bracelet, gold ear-rings, and a purse which contained cash and cards.

Police would like to hear from anyone who can help to identify the offender.

Detective Constable Dan Cutter said: "Luckily the lady was not hurt but it was a frightening ordeal for her. Incidents of this nature are unusual and we are very keen to make sure we catch the offender and bring him to justice.

"Therefore anyone who can help is asked to contact me on 01303 850055, or if you would prefer to remain anonymous call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The incident happened at 1.45 pm on Friday January 23, but police have only just released the details.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested and released on bail.
