A herd of bulls were seen running loose in Whitfield, with some managing to storm through fences and into a back garden.

The police were called to Napchester Road at 4.15pm yesterday.

A spokesman said: "Officers made contact with a local farmer who helped to round the bulls up and take them away.

"Those who have experienced damage to their property have been given details of the animals' owner."
