A2 blocked between Whitfield and Lydden after HGV leaves the road

Drivers are experiencing delays after a lorry jack-knifed on the A2.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway between Whitfield and Lydden, near to Dover, just before noon.

The road is blocked, and drivers are warned to expect delays in both directions.

Police and Highways England are in attendance.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called following a report that a lorry had left the London-bound carriageway of the A2 between Whitfield and Lydden Hill at around 11.40am.

"Officers are currently in attendance, assisting with the recovery of the vehicle, and the London-bound carriageway is currently closed between Whitfield and Lydden Hill.

"Motorists are advised to use an alternative route."

Vehicle recovery is being carried out and is likely to take several more hours due to its complexity. The closure will remain in place until completed.

Traffic leaving Dover is advised to use the A20 and M20 as the alternative route.
