Man wounded on ferry: no suspicious circumstances

POLICE say they are no longer treating as suspicious an incident in which a man was found with serious injuries on board a cross-Channel ferry at Dover.

The man was found last Thursday when the Pride of Calais arrived at Dover at 7pm.

He had slash wounds near his throat and was taken to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital where his condition was said to be stable but critical.

Police interviewed many of the people who were on the ferry at the time and officers returned to the ship the next day to continue their enquiries, although the ferry sailed as normal.

On Sunday the man, who has not been identified, was in a stable condition, and today police said the incident had been fully investigated and it was no longer being treated as suspicious.

No other details have been released, but it is not thought anyone else was involved.
