A school was put on “lockdown” after a pupil spotted a stranger in the toilets.
It was reported to the head teacher of Dover Grammar School for Boys, Fiona Chapman, who then instructed all classrooms to keep their pupils inside until they could find out who it was.
But the culprit turned out to be an invigilator who had been brought in to oversee an exam that day.
Mrs Chapman said: “The students did exactly the right thing. They saw someone they didn’t know and reported it and my staff responded in the right way.”
She said it happened at around noon last Wednesday, during the last lesson before lunch time and the situation was resolved within 20 minutes when it was discovered who it had been.
“I was very pleased that if there was a real incident they would deal with it in the right way,” she added.
