Dover residents, businesses and schools asked for views on town centre regeneration in Bench Street and Creative Centre

A new multi-million pound scheme to revamp a town centre is being put forward to the public to help shape it.

Dover District Council wants the views of people on the planned Creative Centre in Bench Street, Dover.

They are invited to give opinions on the initial design and what kind of artwork they would like to see at the venue.

These could be, for example art, crafts, ceramics, photography, music, film-making, drawing, sculptures or textiles.

The £5 million project is hoped to be completed next spring.

It is part of wider redevelopment and includes plans to return the Banksy Brexit mural which appeared on a former amusement arcade building in the street.

The regeneration stems from the council's successful £3.2m bid to the government’s Future High Streets Fund. In addition, £1.7m is coming from the Town Centre Regeneration Fund.

The overall Bench Street revamp is aided by £18m levelling-up cash.

It is also part of other redevelopments in the town centre such as the unveiling of the new look Market Square last August.

There are separate surveys on the Creative Centre for three different groups of people.

Firstly, those working in the arts sector such as filmmaking, photography and music. Secondly, for residents and local business people and thirdly for schools.

Opinions need to be given by April 21 and they can be provided online on the council website dover.gov.uk
