A WOMAN in her 40s is in hospital after falling 70ft at Langdon Cliffs near Dover.

The accident happened around 2pm on Sunday. The woman landed on a ledge below the paths which run along the cliffs, which are popular with walkers.

Some reports suggested the woman had been drinking before the accident happened.

Emergency services from across Kent were at the scene. A line rescue team from Deal Fire Station was dispatched, with fire crews from Dover also attending.

Kent Air Ambulance was sent to the scene and managed to lift the woman back to the top of the cliffs, near the road, where paramedics were waiting.

The woman was unconscious due to the fall, but as crews treated her, she regained consciousness.

She was taken by road to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. It is not thought her condition is life-threatening.
