Dover’s Aspar Team Moto2 racer Jake Dixon looking forward to returning to action at MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas

Dover’s Jake Dixon is on track to return to Moto2 action in the United States this weekend.

Aspar racer Dixon suffered a heavy crash in practice in the season-opener in Qatar last month which ruled him out of the race. A laceration on his lung prevented him flying home for more than a week.

Although he travelled to Portugal for round two with the intention of competing, taking part in Friday practice, in a joint decision with his team his recovery was prioritised and he did not complete the Grand Prix.

However Dixon arrives in Austin with his batteries recharged and is eager to get back on the bike.

“I have spent the last few weeks recovering and rehabbing,” he said.

“Fortunately, I am getting better every day, but it is hard to know how I am really doing without getting on the bike.

“I am really looking forward to going to the United States and being able to ride in a race. For me, it will be the first race of the season.

“I will try to enjoy my return with the team and put the incident in Qatar behind me."
