DOVER ATHLETIC’S season has finished on a high note. They have secured third place in the Dr Martens League's Premier Division and also signed a new sponsorship deal with Hoverspeed.

The 2-1 home win over Worcester City at Crabble on Saturday followed Friday night’s announcement that Hoverspeed had agreed a one-year contract to sponsor the Whites.

Under the deal, Hoverspeed’s name will be on Whites’ shirts next season and Crabble will be renamed the Hoverspeed Stadium.

In return, Dover are likely to receive a cheque in the region of £20,000, although none of the parties at Friday’s signing ceremony in the Centre Spot were prepared to divulge the exact figure other than that the deal was worth “five figures”.

Mick Kemp, the Athletic chairman, said: “This is an excellent start for us as we begin to look forward to next season, but we have got a lot more work to do (in the sponsorship area) over the next couple of months."

Trevor Bond, Hoverspeed’s Head of Marketing and Sales, said: “The local community in Dover has been very good to us over the years, and as a result we have decided that we should do something in return for Dover Athletic."
