AN INVESTIGATION is likely to be carried out by the Football Association after a player was said to have racially abused a team-mate.

The incident is alleged to have happened during Dover Athletic's home match against Godalming on Saturday.

Bosses at Dover have revealed that the club has been verbally informed by match officials that midfielder Danny Chapman had been sent-off for "making comments of a racial nature" to team-mate Anton Innocent during the game. Innocent was shown a yellow card by referee Sam Lewis at the same time.

In a statement the club, supporters of Kick Racism Out of Football, said: "We, under no circumstances, condone any form of racism whether it is at our club – or in the community at large."

The statement added: "The club will be in contact with the FA this week, and our lawyers, to seek advice before dealing with this matter."

Dover Athletic won Saturday's match 2-1.
