Dover lost for the second consecutive league game and dropped to 13 in Vanarama Conference after losing 3-2 against FC Halifax at the Shay.
Lois Maynard, Richard Peniket and Jamie Jackson scored for the hosts while Tom Murphy and debutant Dan Holman replied for Whites.
The home side made a perfect start and opened the scoring in spectacular fashion after just five minutes.
Lois Maynard’s 25-yarder rocketed past Dover goalkeeper Mitch Walker.
Walker was playing his first league game since last September’s loss at Dartford with Andy Rafferty still struggling with a back injury.
The Shaymen beat Walker again 14 minutes later but it wasn’t as stunning as the first goal.
Matty Pearson’s low cross was palmed away by Walker before Richard Peniket tapped home from close range.
Halifax were dominating at this stage of game but Murphy changed that with a superb individual goal.
Murphy got the ball 25 yards out and dribbled his way towards goal before firing home low from just inside the box to put Whites back in the game.
That’s the way it stayed until substitute Jackson beat Walker with a superb lob from just inside the box in the 66 minute. He had only been on for a minute.
Colchester United loanee Holman also made an immediate impression when he came on firing home Poole’s cross from 18 yards in the 77 minute.
Walker then produced two stunning saves to prevent his side falling further behind before Sean Francis had a goal ruled out for offside.
Earlier, boss Chris Kinnear made four changes from the side that bowed out of the FA Trophy at Bath on Tuesday.
Sean Francis, Ricky Modeste, James Poole and Solomon Taiwo all came in to the starting side.
Chris Kinnear jnr, Barry Cogan and Tom Wynter dropped to the bench while Jake Reid was left out of the of the squad completely.
