3 in dock over cash machine raids

THREE men have appeared before a court charged with offences related to cash machine raids in the county.

The three are accused of conspiracy to burgle after being arrested last Wednesday morning in New Romney, near Hythe.

They are Hizekiah Roberts, 30, an unemployed builder, of Dickens Avenue, Canterbury, Darren Scott Lee, 31, a labourer, of The Meadows, New Romney, and Anthony Cornelius Lee, 32, a builder, from Greenbridge Park Caravan Site, Vauxhall Road, Canterbury.

Roberts has also been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest and driving a motor vehicle dangerously in a public place.

The charges relate to incidents at New Romney, Littlebourne, near Canterbury, Hawkinge, near Folkestone, Sandwich and Herne Bay, spanning from January 7 this year to March 1.

The men appeared before magistrates at Folkestone. They were remanded in custody until March 16 when they will appear before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.
