The alert has been in place since 10.58am today.
A council spokesman said: “We have also been warned that occasional waves may come over the top of sea walls.
"In particular the public are advised not to visit exposed areas on the coast to take photos as you will be putting yourself in danger.
“We do not expect flooding of property at this stage but members of the public and boat owners should take suitable precautions in tidal areas.”

The council adds that Storm Imogen is also likely to make driving difficult.
There is a risk of falling trees and power cuts - it is best to avoid driving on coastal roads until the storm has passed later to avoid any waves that may break over the sea wall.
The weather is likely to impact on ferry crossings from Dover, which may lead to congestion on the M20/A20 coast bound.
The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, at the Dartford Crossing, and the Sheppey Bridge are now closed, which will eventually affect traffic across the county.
Heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow morning.
