First home league win still eludes Invicta

Folkestone Invicta 3 Havant and Waterlooville 3

SIX goals and a hatful of missed chances at both ends gave supporters plenty of festive entertainment at Cheriton Road on Saturday.

Invicta twice came from behind to lead 3-2 at half time, but were again ultimately still left awaiting their first home league win of the season after running out of steam after the interval.

Striker James Taylor completed his hat-trick for the visitors during the second half and the Hawks threatened to win the game deep into stoppage time but for a superb Maurice Munden save from Dean Blake.

Havant opened the scoring after 13 minutes when Taylor volleyed in Neil Davis' cross from the right. Taylor missed a great chance to increase the lead after 23 minutes when he shot wide after striking partner Warren Haughton headed on Chris Ferrett's left wing cross.

And Havant were made to pay for that miss when Invicta levelled a minute later as Tait broke down the right hand side and sent over a delicate chip for Ayling to head home at the far post.

Havant restored their lead with a soft goal after 28 minutes when Haughton found Taylor and the prolific striker's shot took a wicked deflection to leave goalkeeper Munden wrong-footed on the goal line.

But this was another battling display from Invicta and they equalised after 36 minutes when Tait headed in Mike Azzopardi's corner.

And Invicta went 3-2 ahead after 38 minutes when Tait met the ball with an excellent first touch and sent a sweet chip over goalkeeper Kerr from the edge of the penalty area.

Havant were level after 56 minutes when Taylor completed his hat-trick from Ferrett's deep left wing cross.
